Although attached to DLI for administrative purposes only GOCS has its own functions.
The Governors Office of Community Service (GOCS) exists to expand national service and community volunteerism across Montana. GOCS is a state service commission responsible for administering federal funding for AmeriCorps State programs in Montana and coordinating with other AmeriCorps programs such as National Directs VISTA and NCCC. GOCS is led by a Governorappointed Director and is supported by a fifteenmember Commission on Community Service. GOCS partners with all streams of AmeriCorps service programs and communitybased organizations to meet the objectives and goals of the state service plan.
