Internal (promotional) opportunity for current DEMA Employees
The HVAC/EMS Mechanic to be responsible for responding to and resolving all Energy Management and HVAC issues and concerns for all 162d Morris Air National Guard managed spaces located in Tucson AZ and geographically separated units (GSU) located at Davis Monthan and Ft. Huachuca. Must be able to work with minimal supervision in performing Journeyman Level work in the Operation Maintenance & Repair of Large Modern HVAC Refrigeration Heating Systems and Equipment. Incumbent ensures all work complies with state and federal codes; performs all assigned tasks within the established guidelines and instructions adhere to established safety rules/procedures ensure all work is compliant with applicable safety codes. Incumbent will be required to take immediate action in emergency situations and is responsible for timely reporting on corrective action. The incumbent will be required to provide callback response to the facilities afterhours/emergency help desk and oversee repair work as necessary.
Responsibilities include:
Troubleshoot maintain inspect modify and repair industrial heating ventilation systems air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment including DX and hydronic systems and components controls for chillers fans and fan motors pumps VFD and VRV systems motors electric controls and associated safety overcurrent and other equipment protection devices.
Implement and facilitate the Energy Management System (EMS) and HVAC controls and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). May be required to install adjust calibrate and troubleshoot HVAC on an Energy Management System.
Adjust a computerbased EMS program for proper HVAC comfort and energy management control. Coordinate work with vendors for assigned projects.
Explore and seek out any opportunities for improving equipment performance and longevity. Work in a team environment and demonstrate excellent customer service.
Coordinate and work with Building Managers Supervisors and other CES Maintenance staff on projects routine work and scheduled heating and air conditioning repairs or maintenance.
Ensure proper operation of all HVAC related systems after repair or installation by inspection. Ensure all new material installations are captured and recorded with the Civil Engineer Operations Production Control section for record keeping.
Knowledge of:
Electrical mechanical and HVAC/Stationary Engineering systems Heat load chiller and DX system calculations
Energy management systems such as Andover Siemens and Tridium.
N4 Graphical User Workstation for the EMCS system.
Reading and interpreting blueprints schematics and ladder diagrams.
Current HVAC construction principles methods and techniques of CMMS systems. Chiller plant operations and DX system calculation
Skilled in:
Estimating time and material requirements for work projects including cost analysis of repairing existing equipment vs. replacement with new equipment.
Cost analysis of repairing existing equipment versus replacement with new equipment
Installation repair and maintenance of all HVAC systems and assignments common to the trade.
Interpret National and local building codes in the planning and performance of HVAC building repair and maintenance.
Ability to:
Diagnose problems/malfunctions in a wide variety of cooling/refrigeration equipment
Inspect service repair and install a wide variety of cooling/refrigeration equipment
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Work one (1) weekend a month on a rotating schedule.
Utilize trade specific tools and material.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with both military and nonmilitary personnel to accomplish assigned missions.
Work outside in extreme temperatures.
Complete assignments timely with minimal supervision.
Desired qualifications include any combination of experience education and training that meets the knowledge skills and abilities as described. The preferred candidate should have 4 years of journeyman experience in Industrial HVAC.
Special Job Requirements:
This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current valid stateissued drivers license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R210207.12.)
In State travel is required.
Candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation as well as possess the ability to achieve a favorable Tier 3 investigation for the purpose of obtaining/maintaining a Secret clearance eligibility and Common Access Card (CAC) within one year of hire.
Must meet all eligibility requirements to enter other federal installations such as DavisMonthan Air Force Base and Fort Huachuca.
Possession of EPA issued Universal Certificate for freon.
