Schedule: Monday Friday 8 am 5 pm (3060 min unpaid lunch)/ 40 hours per week

Summary:

This position builds young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach for youth ministry using the EDGE Life Teen resources Confirmation Catechism of the Catholic Church Bible and other authentic Catholic teaching resources and in accordance with the archdiocese and parish policies. The youth minister is responsible for the development coordination supervision and execution of evangelization of our parish youth responsible and subject to Catholic Church policies Catholic teaching and parish policies; and will support youth events retreats and celebrations in order to build healthy relationships with youth. Responsible for faith formation for middle school high school and confirmation.


The primary task is to use a comprehensive approach based on a good understanding of youth ministry that:

Meets our youth where they are in their journey of faith.

Encourage our youth in developing their relationship to God.

Provide them with opportunities for nurture and growth in the Catholic faith.

Cultivate a sense of belonging.

Challenge them to respond to Gods call to serve in their parish community and in their own communities.

Major Areas of Responsibilities:

Help plan develop and implement all aspects of a balanced youth ministry in the areas of group building worship discipleship mission and outreach.

Support and collaborate the work of the Pastor and the Director of Religious Education in the annual process of evaluating the vision and goals of the youth ministry.

Mentor youth to develop their relationship with Jesus Christ the Church and their leadership skills.

Be aware of Catholic resources for developing the youth ministry programs and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities.

Recruit volunteers who may work with youth ministry and ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratios set by the archdiocese abiding by all VIRTUS requirements.

Coordinate religious education curriculum for youth middle school high school and Confirmation preparation in partnership with the Director of Religious Education.

Communicate in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email texts phone calls website bulletin) important approved information to staff parents catechists and the community.

Work in collaboration with the gifts and talents of other staff team of catechists community leaders and maintain a teamwork mentality.

Ensure that VIRTUS policies are observed all times with catechists and volunteers.

Prepares a yearly calendar for EDGE Life Teen and Confirmation in timely manner.

Serve as the liaison with the archdiocesan office of youth ministry and their programs services and resources.

Requirements

Qualifications and Aptitudes:

Strong personal relationship with Jesus and a deep love for the Catholic Church.

Be a practicing Catholic and in good standing with the Catholic Church and be present in the community.

Have a solid praxis in the Roman Catholic theological tradition.

Effective organizer planner and implementer.

Missiondriven

Ability to pass criminal background check and maintain our VIRTUS Safe Environment training in compliance.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication and computer skills and knowledge of social media platforms.

Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth diverse individuals and team volunteers.

Develop sound and wellplanned youth lessons and encourage catechists to participate using their skills and talents.

Provide up to date youth ministry information and planning of youth ministry to Director of Religious Education.

Plan events and retreats with wellplanned objectives and goals.

Must be selfmotivated and committed to professionalism and make solid connection with youth and parents in the parish community.

Open to receive new ideas and concepts to develop ministerial competence.


Education Training and/or Experience:

BA in Theology/Religious Education or related educational field preferred; or certificate in ministry or theology from a Catholic institution is preferred.

Past experience in Youth Ministry evangelization catechesis and retreats

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual is a plus.

Ability to prepare and monitor budgets for youth program/events.

Proficiency in Word Excel and Microsoft Office technological proficiency in email and text communication web and social media platforms.

Knowledgeable of current youth culture trends and issues regarded youth.
