Primary Responsibilities
Summary Function: Oversee the planning development and implementation of university programs and services for all new students including New Student Orientation Lobo Days Family Day Lobo Camp New Student Convocation and other special student event including Homecoming and traditions. Duties: Essential: The Coordinator will responsible for developing implementing and assessing programs and services that support the successful onboarding engagement and retention of new undergraduate students including first year transfer and international students. The coordinator helps new and returning students and their families navigate the transition to college and Sul Ross by connecting them to people programs and resources to provide a solid foundation for student success. The Coordinator manages program budgets analyzes data and prepares reports evaluates initiatives for student impact supports and contributes to campus wide retention efforts and develops and delivers student trainings that support their transition. Additionally the coordinator will be responsible for the logistics planning communication and execution of orientation events and new student programs/events including the selection and oversight of orientation leaders. This role represents the department at universitywide events and actively participates in campus committees and performs other duties as assigned. Supervision Received: Reports directly to Director of Civic Engagement & Student Assistance. Given: Direct supervision of student orientation leaders. Working Conditions Usual: Office conditions; office hours 8 am 5 pm Monday through Friday. Weekends as needed for related programs. Exempt from overtime provisions. Some travel is required. Position is Security Sensitive. Special: Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.
