Stoney Brook Hewitt has an outstanding opportunity for a Fulltime Maintenance Assistant & Driver to join our team. Our goal is to help residents to grow thrive and be contributors to community life. TheMaintenance Assistant is responsible for the daytoday maintenance of the physical assets of the community by performing upkeep tasks such as repairs and cleaning applying basic repair(s) to equipment and building systems and ensuring the facilities are tidy and functional.

Shift:
- Monday Friday
- 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
- On call on an as needed basis.
- Includes holidays on rotation
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the completion of all maintenance work orders as assigned.
- Complete makeready process of vacant resident room as directed by the Supervisor.
- Coordinate special projects as directed by the Supervisor.
- Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors as instructed by the Supervisor.
- Carry pager/cell phone as required for oncall maintenance and perform 24hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled.
- Perform cleaning activities such as dusting mopping etc. as directed by the Supervisor.
- Install appliances and equipment.
- Ensures garden/yard upkeep (i.e. mowing lawn collecting trash etc.) as scheduled or as otherwise instructed by the Supervisor.
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs paint minor plumbing minor electrical carpentry minor HVAC.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation).
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm).
- Report to the Director of Plant Operations Manager on Duty and/or Executive Director any safety or maintenance issues.
- Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company local City State and Federal guidelines.
- Drive vehicle from community to assigned destinations.
- Assist residents into and out of vehicle in a safe manner. Assist residents with belongings.
- Follow operating safety procedures as defined in the vehicle operating manuals.
- Observe all traffic laws. Practice safe driving techniques at all times.
- Secure passengers wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs while transport is in progress.
- Immediately report accidents or damage to the vehicle to Executive Director or Manager on Duty.
- Clean vehicle and assure sufficient fueling to meet transportation needs.
- Report needed vehicle maintenance repairs and potentially unsafe conditions to Director of Maintenance or Executive Director.
- Monitor daily trip inspection and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain a safe driving record that meets company guidelines and insurance carrier requirements.
- Handle emergency situations and basic First Aid.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires current Drivers License and driving record that meets company guidelines.
- Must be professional and have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Able to operate a sixteen (16) passenger bus unless otherwise required by state law.
- Able to operate tire changing equipment First Aid Kit wheelchair lift and dollies/hand trucks.
- Must be willing to undergo a routine background check.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 12 years of related experience
- Basic Knowledge of HVAC plumbing and electrical systems
- Experience using hand and electric tools.
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
