We are looking for you to join our team as an Engineering Manager level 1 based out of Sunnyvale CA. This role is responsible for engineering leadership and technical direction to Marine Systems specializing in the development manufacture assembly and testing of propulsion and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. The candidate selected will apply their skills to support current and future Navy Power & Propulsion Turbomachinery development with an integrated engineering team consisting of a diverse staff of backgrounds in Mechanical Electrical Aerothermal Acoustics Structural and Systems Engineers.
In this role the manager will develop and lead a group of engineers through the entire product lifecycle for complex hardware products to support the U.S. Navy. The position responsibilities include management of time keeping performance reviews staffing and resource planning training and team engagement. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated aptitude in areas of requirements and interface management and verification design of fabricated and machined components design of electrical pneumatic and/or hydraulic subsystems CAD modeling / drawing review and successful execution of technical projects to cost and schedule targets.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide project and technical oversight of design activities performed by the group.
Prepare cost estimates provide proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers.
Increasing machinery design engineering competencies through employee development and strategic hiring.
Balancing employee needs with business goals.
Provide ownership of and direction to the design processes used in the group.
Basic understanding of the Design Manufacturing and Test Integration process.
Support department initiatives forecasting and recruiting technology roadmap creation and champion continuous process improvements.
