Job Description Summary:
As a Distinguished Optical Instrument Engineer in the ElectroOptical Instruments Group you will play a leadership role in the development of ElectroOptical inertial instruments for cuttingedge guidance applications. You will oversee and strategically guide a team of engineers and physicists to build nextgeneration gyroscopes accelerometer and guidanceaiding sensor prototypes. Your team will be responsible for characterizing the performance developing production rollout and ultimately delivering production hardened sensors meeting some of the worlds most stringent requirements. You will be a key leader in the development of our junior engineering staff as a mentor and technical leader in a fastpaced technically challenging environment.Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Designing analyzing integrating components with optical devices and demonstrating device prototypes.
Develops builds and tests systems and products based on optic photonic and laser technologies.
Interacts with device hardware and software design teams to develop optical systems; specifying selecting and qualifying active and passive optical components developing and benchmarking system performance models.
Develop and implement test procedures and/or evaluating and selecting appropriate test instrumentation.
Provides multidiscipline support to instrumentation production by resolving technical issues associated with components parts products or systems.
Testing of new and existing designs and documentation of changes through a formal engineering change notification process.
Provide recommendations for cost reduction efforts.
Apply quantitative analysis in determining root cause of highly technical problems and propose develop and implement solutions for corrective action.
Develop and maintain effective internal/external relationships.
Independently drive solutions to complex multidisciplinary problems with a deep understanding of a customers strategic priorities.
Capable of helping customers shape their needs and develop requirements for programs that solve their most challenging technical problems.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) in offensive cybersecurity and cyber software development with broad knowledge across related technical disciplines.
Contributes to advancing State of the Art (SOA) solutions and techniques in their field.
Able to analyze Draper strategy and work with management to build capability in key areas to help sustain business growth.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requires a bachelors degree in Optical Engineering Physics or related field. Masters or PhD degree preferred.
Experience
15 years experience Optical Engineering experience or related field required.
