As a building substitute you will perform related duties in the absence of the classroom teacher to provide continuity in the daytoday responsibilities by implementing the teachers prepared lesson plans.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructions according to lesson plans as prepared by the classroom teacher or create lesson plans in the absence of a prepared lesson.
  • Uphold all District policies rules and procedures to which all teachers are subject.
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Assist the teacher with all aspects of the daily routine including distributing and collecting supplies keeping attendance records lunchroom duty recess etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times: in the classroom school site and in the community.
  • Ability to present material using a variety of approaches techniques and media aids to stimulate interest enthusiasm and curiosity about subjects and events.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Teacher/Principal.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 1year teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting (Preferred)
  • Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
  • Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus
  • Bilingual candidates and candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
