We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer with experience inRF (Radio Frequency) design and spectrum analysisto join our team in developing cuttingedge access control products.
This position will report directly to the Manager Electrical/ Hardware Engineering and sits onsite fulltime Berlin CT.
What you will be doing
- CrossFunctional Collaboration
- Collaborate with a diverse and dynamic team to design and develop innovative access control products.
- Participate inPreProduct Innovation (PPI)New Product Innovation (NPI) andContinuous Product Innovation (CPI)development cycles.
- Product Development Lifecycle
- Contribute to concept development planning design and execution stages of major new products or product enhancements.
- TranslateProduct Requirementsinto clear and actionable hardware specifications.
- ConductRisk Assessmentssuch as Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential design issues.
- Hardware Design & Verification
- Design schematics andPrinted Circuit Boards (PCB)using ECAD tools (e.g. Altium).
- Conduct peer reviews of product designs ensuring compliance with best practices and standards.
- Collaborate with Test and Manufacturing teams to ensuretestabilityandmanufacturability.
- Prototype and test concept designs and early engineering builds.
- PerformDesign Verification Testing (DVT) analyze results and generate reports.
- ConductProduct Validationand usability testing to confirm performance under realworld conditions.
- Perform basic repairs modifications and rework of PCBs when necessary.
- RF and Spectrum Analysis
- UtilizeSpectrum AnalyzersVector Network Analyzers and other RF measurement tools to characterize and troubleshoot wireless communication subsystems.
- Ensure designs meetregulatory standards(FCC CE etc.) and maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Optimize antenna design placement and performance for reliable lowpower wireless solutions.
- Production Support & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee Pilot Production and reviewfirst articlesfor design integrity.
- Investigatefield return issues perform rootcause analyses and implement design changes or component replacements for EndofLife (EOL) parts.
- Coordinate project tasks usingScaled Agile(SAFe) principles ensuring efficient workflows and continuous process improvements.
- Project Management
- Manage daytoday tasks timelines and deliverables to ensure project milestones are met.
- Coordinate with crossfunctional teamsincluding software/firmware program management and external vendorsto keep projects on schedule and within budget.
What we are looking for
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering or equivalent; advanced degree or additional certifications are a plus.
- Proven professional experience in hardware design demonstrableproduct ownership and ideally with a focus on RF and wireless technologies.
- Technical Skills
- Strong background in analog digital and embedded hardware design.
- Handson experience with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers vector network analyzers oscilloscopes function generators DVMs and protocol/logic analyzers.
- Proficiency with Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) tools (e.g. Altium) for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Familiarity with lowpower (battery) designs and wireless communication technologies (e.g. BLE WiFi Zigbee) is a significant plus.
- Soft Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to present technical concepts clearly.
- Effective team player capable of interfacing with individuals across multiple disciplineshardware firmware/software mechanical program management production and vendors.
- Selfdriven and highly motivated; able to set personal goals and work independently in a fastpaced environment.
- Detailoriented organized and conscientious with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
