There are 3 Parttime Permanent Personal Support Worker positions available starting on May 25 2025 working minimum 50 hours Biweekly.


This Position Include Night Shifts.

Your Role:

Assists residents with activities of daily living including assisting with personal care hygiene medication reminders and ambulation throughout the building. Observes and reports changes in resident behavior and physical and mental wellbeing to supervisor. Supports residents with strategies to navigate and manage changing physical and cognitive needs. Assists in ensuring that a clean safe and comfortable environment is maintained for residents. Completes required charting and documentation within the PointClickCare resident database. Maintains the confidentiality of information relating to residents and their families. Works intentionally from an antiracist antioppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at the Village.

Tasks:

Resident Care:

1. Assists residents with personal care (e.g. dressing choosing clothes bathing toileting incontinent care nail care assistance with movement to and from dining room as per plan of care).

2. Assists in providing culturally inclusive care according to the residents care plan.

3. Provides medication reminders to residents responsible for their own medication.

4. Carries a mobile device and promptly responds to emergency response system alerts. If unable to respond within the required timeframe secures backup assistance as required.

5. Assists residents in moving to and from inhouse essential appointments based on residents plan of care.

6. Participates in the admission orientation and transfer of residents as directed by the RPN.

7. Identifies and reports changes in resident behaviour as well as physical and mental wellbeing to the RPN and supervisor.

8. Tidies residential living spaces and completed bedmaking in Memory Care.

9. Provides sensitive adaptive and supportive environment for residents e.g. reading writing letters listening and talking with them going on walks on property etc.

10. Participate in training on proper use of lifting equipment. Assists with ambulation positioning and one person transfers using mechanical lifts and other assistive devices.

11. Completes treatment for residents as assigned (i.e. blood pressure vital signs topical creams) and documents as per policy.

12. Provides full palliative care (e.g. providing full bed care) with and without outside agency involvement.

13. Provides bridging care for residents with evolving care needs while supplemental support and care is being arranged.

14. Completes safety checks as per plan of care and directed by the RPN.

15. Performs safety checks with Memory Care residents and with residents elsewhere in assisted living facility if needed.

16. Providing resident centered care without judgement and respecting residents autonomy and their right to make decisions regarding their care.

Administration:

17. Supports with the maintenance of resident records incident reports and other documentation in accordance with policies and procedures and legislative requirements.

18. Monitors the roam alert system for Memory Care residents and ensures that the system remains operational reporting any system concerns to supervisor.

19. Reorganizes daily worksheets as needed to respond to changing physical and cognitive needs of residents.

20. Utilizes electronic systems (PointClickCare) to access resident information and care plan information.

Your Talents and Experience:

Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited school or equivalent education or experience preferred. Must have Grade 12 education and experience working with seniors or within a relatable caregiving role. Knowledge of infection prevention and control is essential. Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and residents and maintain a commitment to providing exemplary resident care. Time management skills including prioritization and multitasking are essential and must have an ability to navigate completion of daily task list while maintaining sensitivity and adaptability to the evolving needs of residents. Must be able to consistently apply sound judgement and be observant to changes in resident behavior utilizing knowledge of basic medical issues and conditions escalating medical concerns to supervisor. Basic computer and electronic documentation skills required with a willingness to embrace new healthcare technologies. Good written and oral communication skills. Must be resourceful with the ability to autonomously problemsolve while adhering to regulatory and internal policies practices and procedures. Ease in building relationships with residents and their families is essential and skilled at motivating residents to maintain or increase their independence. Capable of performing physically demanding work within a fastpaced environment. Demonstrates compassion and empathy for the changing needs of residents and their families and takes initiative to ensure a safe supportive and welcoming home for the residents and guests. Alignment with the agencys commitment to antiracism and antioppression. Demonstrates a passion and willingness to learn for antiracism and antioppression practices.
