DescriptionThe experienced Ultrasound Tech performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate evaluate and record critical physiological pathological and anatomical data. Produces ultrasound images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. The ultrasound technologist monitors and ensures safety of patient and staff. Performs patient screening by using established protocols. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and in all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Able to evaluate competency level of others as preceptor. Leads and directs the work of others. Reports to Supervisor or Manager
ResponsibilitiesClinical skills
- Performs high quality neonatal pediatric and adult cardiac Echocardiogram examinations in a prudent and efficient manner maintains examination records and generates accurate reports for administration and other operating areas as needed.
- Provides compassionate and dignified patient care by assisting in patient transfer to examination area and positioning of table and by providing care to the patient following procedure completion.
- Demonstrates skill and knowledge in use of all standard ultrasound equipment and a solid foundation in ultrasound theory.
- Triage requests that all imaging procedures are completed in a timely manner.
- Evaluate patients to ensure that they are examined safely without harm or further injury to the patient.
Patient/General Safety
- Checks inpatients name bands before performing examinations; for outpatients states patients complete name clearly.
- Responsible for reviewing exam and protocol revisions as necessary.
Equipment
- Operates equipment and performs jobrelated duties in a safe manner.
Documentation/Communication
- Prepares patient for examination by explaining procedure providing instructions and obtaining clinical history and consent.
- Familiar with standard exam protocols designated by Radiologists and knowledge of support documentation for all procedures. Refers to manuals as necessary.
- Communicates effectively; listens carefully to coworkers peers and Director. Acts as a communication link between staff and other care providers.
- Communicates in timely manner supply items to be ordered to responsible team member.

QualificationsExperience: 2 Years
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of sonography or completion of an ultrasound program
License/ Cert:
- American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography Registry
- Active and unrestricted A.R.D.M.S certification OR CCIRCS 2 Specialty Registries
- Basic Life Support BLS HCP
