This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:
The Park Superintendent is responsible for and supervises park operations within the Southeast region including units in Haines Ketchikan Sitka and Juneau. This position provides the administrative oversight of 47 diverse park units with a number of varied and complex management factors. It is also responsible for managing the operating personnel services and minor capital improvement budgets assigned to its region. This position requires substantial responsibility for exercising independent judgement in employing disciplining or adjudicating subordinates grievances.

The Southeast Region Park Superintendent is based out of the Willoughby building in beautiful downtown Juneau. Daily contacts include interacting with park staff park visitors supervisors and advisory board members.

Qualifications
Two years of advanced professional or supervisorylevel experience in natural resource management. The required experience includes work such as a Park Ranger 2 Natural Resource Specialist 3 Natural Resource Manager 1 Geologist 3 Hydrologist 2 Agronomist 2 Forester 3 or Biologist 3 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
AND
A valid Alaska drivers license is required at the time of appointment.

Supplemental Questions
For your application to be evaluated you must answer the Supplemental Questions. The State of Alaska (SOA) uses four proficiency levels to measure and describe an applicants level of competence in applying certain behaviors knowledge skills and abilities to accomplish a specific task. The four proficiency levels are Mastery Fluency Literacy and Discovery. You must rate your proficiency level for each competency listed in the supplemental questions.
Education
If postsecondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications you must fill out the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree please indicate the units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the minimum qualifications listed above. If utilizing this education you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. postsecondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the postsecondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Classification Study Notice
This position is currently under review as part of the Parks job class study and therefore both the title and the assigned pay range may be subject to change upon completion of the study.

Applicants must possess a valid drivers license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
