Job Description
The landmark Omni Shoreham Hotel is located in one of Washington D.C.s premier residential neighborhoods. An icon among Washington D.C. hotels that has hosted presidents world leaders conventions galas and inaugural balls since our inception in 1930.
The resort hotel of the Nations Capital comprises a 13.5acre campus 4.5 acres of which are formal gardens and terraces. The hotel offers 836 guest rooms and suites with over 100000 square feet of indoor meeting and events space including seven historic ballrooms. Additional amenities include the Marquee Lounge Roberts restaurant a sprawling outdoor pool with bar and health club fitness center and spa.
As the Director of Engineering at the Omni Shoreham you will be Responsible for ensuring proper training and supervision of all Engineering personnel and to provide consistent costeffective maintenance programs that ensure the propertys safe and efficient operation. ($135000 $150000 based on experience)
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and operate in an economic legal and safe manner all R&M & Utility
expenses. - Managing Birchstreet for all R&M expenses participate in all monthend financial process
and forecasting. - Supervise a comprehensive maintenance and preventative maintenance program for
public spaces guestrooms and equipment. All work request and preventive maintenance to
be managed in Synergy. - Coordinate with other departments to maintain general conditions and adhere to safety
health standards and legal requirements set forth by hotel policy. - Recruit interview hire train and discipline engineering associates in coordination with the
Director of Associate Services. - Recommend capital budget projects obtain bids and oversee contractors for project
execution. Manage special permits and licenses as required. - Ensure timely and accurate completion of work by external vendors and contractors.
- Maintain own and resorts special permits and licenses as required by local state and
federal authorities. - Control schedules staffing and payroll for the Engineering team. Maintain personnel
records utility logs and engineering records. - Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents injuries
and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications. - Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional
personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect
company assets. - Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify recommend develop
and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency productivity quality
safety and/or costsavings. - Responsible for scheduling and facilitating monthly department meetings.
- Effectively coach and counsel associates as needed and complete performance
evaluations. - Attend all company required training.
- Maintain and oversee the safe and efficient operation of steam boilers and all associated equipment in accordance with applicable codes and safety standards.
- Monitor maintain and ensure proper operation of all laundry equipment coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance as needed to minimize downtime.
- Effectively collaborate with union labor ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and maintaining a positive working relationship.
- Champion the Omni / Power of One / Power of Engagement culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years hospitality Engineering experience required or in a similar field.
- Certification in HVAC electrical plumbing is preferred. CPO and EPA certifications are
required. If currently do not possess it will be required to obtain within 6 months of
employment. - Expertise in mechanical electrical plumbing building management and all life safety
systems pertinent to hotel operations. - Knowledgeable in safety use for: power tools general engineering tools and equipment
pool pumps and filtration systems. - Knowledgeable in ADA requirements power water and sewer distribution blueprints fire
codes and fire protection. - Demonstrate excellent leadership organizational and communication skills. Must possess
effective teamwork and guest relations. - Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work
direction motivation performance management and disciplinary action. - Ability to ensure administrative functions and duties are assigned and completed
according to Omni standards including timekeeping vendor contracts and personnel
action forms. - Possess Relevant industry certifications and licenses as required by local authorities.
Physical Requirements:
- Move bend lift carry push pull and place objects of moderate to heavy weight without
assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift. - Responds quickly to sounds. Moves safely over uneven terrain. Identify and respond to
dangerous situations. Safely climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight.
Wear personal protective equipment when required.
Working Environment:
- Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.

- Power tools and general engineering tools for HVAC electrical and plumbing equipment.
