    Location: Uinta County School District One Evanston Wyoming
    Davis Middle School & Evanston Middle School

    Salary: This position pays a starting salary of $87750 $93750 per year (with placement commensurate with experience and training). Contract is 210 days that includes family medical (80/20 plan) dental vision and life insurance. Paid Wyoming retirement of 18.12% (UCSD #1 pays 14.94% employee pays 3.68%) and paid leave of 11 general leave days per year.

    Job Goal: To assist the principal in leading a middle school community toward increasing levels of achievement and growth for students.

    PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:
    The Uinta County School District #1 Dean of Students serves as a member of the middle school administrative team and assists with the daily operation of the school specifically in the areas of staff evaluation and development behavioral and disciplinary prevention and intervention services.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelors degree in education or related field
    • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience
    • Valid Wyoming Principals license preferred
    • Valid Wyoming teaching certificate

    LEADERSHIP:
    • Responsible for the evaluation of staff at Davis Middle School and Evanston Middle School
    • Responsible for overseeing all issues of student discipline
    • Responsible for creating a school culture that works to understand different students needs and behaviors within the school environment
    • Responsible for representing both schools when students interact with wraparound resources (i.e.: court system DFS etc.)
    • Responsible for working with parents to understand student discipline policies and help with changes in behavior

    COMMUNICATION and SUPPORT:
    • Responsible for planning and supporting professional development at both Middle Schools
    • Responsible for communication and support of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). This includes but is not limited to:
      • Data collection on student behavior
      • Problem solving students behavior
      • Training teachers regarding referral process for behaviors
      • Training teachers on teaching behavior expectations to students
    • Responsible for supporting intervention before and after school
    • Responsible for supporting afterschool activities by supervising concerts plays sporting events
    • Responsible for attending Board meetings to both provide communication as well as support the work of the District

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge of classroom management and student discipline issues
    • Knowledge of current trends in behavior plans processes and procedures
    • Knowledge of development of school improvement goals and objectives
    • Knowledge of assessment and its relationship to curriculum and instruction
    • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and accreditation standards
    • Skilled at using data and data systems to make instructional decisions
    • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems
    • Skilled in collaboration and decisionmaking seeking consensus whenever possible
    • Skilled in conflict resolution
    • Ability to coach others in the use of data to ensure all learners needs are met
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
    • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
    • Ability to interpret apply and explain rules regulations policies and procedures
    • Ability to promote positive staff morale
    • Ability to contribute significantly to staff development programs and planning
    • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal)

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • Physical Demands While performing duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push pull lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.
    • Working Conditions The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children.
    • Driving Requirement This position may require driving.
