OVERVIEW:
San Diego Unified School District the second largest district in California and one of the top largest urban school districts in the United States is looking for leaders who care deeply for students inspire passion in their coworkers through collaborative leadership and are committed to the communities in which they serve. The District seeks leaders who are committed to educational equity and work to create access and opportunity for our students furthest from education justice. The District is seeking candidates for Investigative Specialist to support the Office of Investigations Compliance and Accountability.
The Office of Investigations Compliance and Accountability supports the Districts response to state and federal regulatory complaints involving Title VI Title IX ADA Uniform Complaint Procedures and IDEA laws. The department also conducts policy analysis gathers evidence and organizes large quantities of data in the Districts case management system and works collaboratively with other offices school administrators parents students and the general public.
The ideal candidate will have extensive administrative (noncriminal) investigations and evidence gathering experience a strong foundational knowledge of the laws and regulations related to public education discrimination civil rights (Title VI Title VII and Title IX) and special education (IDEA).
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the guidance and direction of the Executive Director supports the Office of Investigations Compliance and Accountability by assisting in the resolution of complaints. Examines and conducts complex and highly sensitive administrative investigations regarding alleged employee misconduct and allegations related to student safety including violence against children bullying/harassment and egregious acts involving district staff.

E Essential Functions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to a degree in criminal justice paralegal studies human resources business administration or related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience. Experience conducting personnel investigations that demonstrates professional level knowledge of practices methods and techniques. Prior experience in government or public agency is preferred.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid California drivers license and availability of private transportation (mileage expense allowance provided).
