Johnson Matthey has an amazing apprentice opportunity based in Royston starting in Sept 2025. In this role you will be supporting operations to deliver a safe and efficient operation. Working under the supervision of the functional management team this role provides supported learning of all aspects of the operation.
You will gain understanding of the fundamentals of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). This includes but is not limited to how best to deploy people resources planning for jobs reviewing and updating procedures and continuous improvement within the context of a technical manufacturing environment.
This position requires a commitment to safe working practices a proactive approach to managing daily administrative tasks collaborating with various departments and using initiative to help resolve issues to facilitate seamless production operations.
The role requires someone who has an interest in manufacturing enjoys working with people can follow instructions (this is a safety role so this is essential) enjoys problem solving and takes pride in their work.

Principal accountabilities
You will learn how to complete safely and efficiently the different production processes within the function.
Demonstrating a professional attitude and showing full commitment to the apprenticeship which is essential for the role.
Working with and listening to the manager/s in charge who will help you achieve your apprenticeship standards.
Completing tasks with absolute adherence to our safety standards.
Raising any issues that occur or asking for clarity about instructions so the manager can ensure that extra support is provided.
A positive flexible attitude that will include both office and shopfloor presence.

Good level of both written and verbal English Essential
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with people at different levels Essential
Good time management skills Essential
Pass in all post16 qualifications Desirable
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Desirable
Good attention to detail and the ability to record and communicate accurate information Desirable
Please note Alevel and BTEC students can still apply for this role even if your grades are not known or you have not passed your exams we will still consider your application as we can train you in this role and fully support you to complete your apprenticeship.
Details of the Apprenticeship:
In this Level 3 apprenticeship we will equip you during a 3year programme with a broad range of transferrable business skills and develop you to become a frontline leader.
On Completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship you will have developed critical highly transferable skills on manufacturing processes including safety resource management and people management.
You will start on a fixedterm contract and after 12 months we will aim to transfer you onto a permanent Johnson Matthey contract subject to review.
