Job Description

Overview

The Dean oversees Student Support for Academics within the residential academy. Oversight encompasses all aspects related to the students academic experience from initial placement and scheduling to ongoing academic support throughout the students three years at the Academy. The Dean also guides the Academys efforts to make certain every student is known challenged and supported academically in equitable ways. Inherent in this role is the willingness and ability to collaborate with gather and consider input from students parents and staff including faculty. In addition the Dean will collaborate with the Principal the Dean of Academics and Equity and the Dean of Scholars to support the Academys mission.

The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) develops creative ethical leaders in science technology engineering and mathematics. As a teaching and learning laboratory created by the State of Illinois IMSA enrolls academically talented Illinois students (grades 1012) in its advanced residential college preparatory program. It also serves thousands of educators and students in Illinois and beyond through innovative instructional programs that foster imagination and inquiry ().

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage Student Information System (Powerschool) through an equity lens
  2. Supervise and Evaluate
  3. Academic Support through an equity lens
  4. Student accommodations
  5. Primary contact for escalated (postfaculty contact) parental concerns
  6. Facilitate the implementation of Equity and Excellence for student support

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The Requiredqualifications for this position include:

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This role generally requires mobility written and verbal communication hearing and visual capabilitiesfinger dexterity repetitive motions loading unloading and moving materials/boxes weighing up to 50 reasonable accommodations including assistive technology may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform such requirements.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This position is a fulltime exempt 12month employmentatwill position. Salary regionally commensurate with training and experience in likeinstitutions with a range of $103145 to $126000. IMSA offers a comprehensive state benefits package (major medical dental vision and prescription) with rates found here a generous paid time off plan and a retirement plan through the State University Retirement System (SURS). SURS is reciprocal with other Illinois public retirement systems such as the Teachers Retirement System of Illinois (TRS) and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
