SUMMARY:
The School of Music at East Texas A&M is seeking to hire a fulltime Interim Director of Choral Activities. The School of Music at East Texas A&M serves approximately 300 music majors in the instrumental vocal and keyboard divisions. The University is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music to offer baccalaureate and masters degrees in music education and performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Music. The School of Music offers graduate assistantships and undergraduate scholarships for vocal instrumental and keyboard students. The School of Music resides in a $30 million music building completed in 2010 containing stateoftheart recital and concert halls studios rehearsal halls and teaching areas. The Chorale has performed in concert in Carnegie Hall as the guest American choir at the International Music Festival of Campina Grande Brazil toured France performing in Le Madeline Church St. Sulpice Church and a special concert at the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach in Normandy toured Austria with performances in the Mozarteum in Salzburg at the University of Vienna in Vienna and the St. Andrae Parish Church Mirabellplatz in Salzburg. In addition in 2019 the University Chorale was invited to perform for the Texas Music Educators Association Convention.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct Chorale
- Director Chamber Singers
- Teach Undergraduate and Graduate Chorale Conducting
- Teach Undergraduate and Graduate Choral Literature
- Work closely with the music education specialist and supervise student teachers in the choral area.
- Work proactively with faculty in the vocal area. Active involvement in state and national professional organizations; Provide leadership and outreach to choral music educators throughout the state.
- Participate in Research Scholarship and Creative Activities (RSCA) consistent with all faculty appointments
- Participate in Service consistent with all faculty appointments
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Masters degree in music is required
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: 1 to 3 (1 3) years of experience as either a Director of Choral Activities or Assistant Director of Choral Activities is required.
- Ability to: Multitask and work well as part of a team.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Doctorate Degree in Music Education or Conducting
- Three (3) years of experience at a university or ten (10) years experience in secondary education
