The Opportunity: The company is looking for a Network Administrator to work onboard the USNS MERCY (TAH19) stationed at San Diego Naval Station to provide IT repair maintenance operations logistics and engineering services to support the installed Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) network and other installed DoD networks. The Network Systems Engineer will primarily support the Military Sealift Command (MSC) Military Treatment Facility (MTF) Program Manager as a broad base Subject Matter Expert in Command Control Computer and Communication (C4) systems.
Responsibilities:
Will be responsible for managing the daytoday operation of the networks and provides SME oversight to the (Military Detachment (MilDet) technicians as required.
Understand multiple and specific hardware and operating system configurations and incorporate design elements into the overall network structure.
Translate customer requirements into a best fit within the MTF and will identify the optimal configuration to support mission requirements.
Contribute to the overall strategic vision and will integrate a broad range of ideas regarding implementation and support.
Provide expertise and be sought as a resource for resolution of unique or complex implementation and support problems.
Undertake the most complex implementation and support projects involving multiple disciplines and may impact multiple businesses.
Interface with Tier 3 support activities for issues regarding the installed MTF network.
Design document setup/configure and troubleshoot Local Area Networks (LANs) to include router and L2/L3 switch configurations Internet Protocol (IP) assignments VLAN instantiation and hardware and software selection and installation on both NIPRNET and SIPRNET.
Provide updates of material and casualty status of these systems to the Information System Security Manager and the Supply Officer
**** Position will deploy/embark with the USNS MERCY (TAH19) for missions outofstate Shipyard periods maintain an ability to be deployable within 5 days (Ready 5 status) of natural disasters during Hurricane/Storm Seasons. The USNS MERCY (TAH19) can be underway for 6 months or more. You must be willing to deploy with the ship as embedded contractor support staff for that duration.****
Qualifications:
Required: Please have the following requirements listed on resume before submitting for position:
Bachelors degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of related work experience related to system/server configuration management and maintenance.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense SECRET security clearance
Be able to fully design document setup/configure and troubleshoot Local Area Networks (LANs) to include router and L2/L3 switch configurations Internet Protocol (IP) assignments VLAN instantiation and hardware and software selection and installation.
Be able to support and be knowledgeable in the following areas: Unix Linux CISCO ISO JUN OS Virtual machines using VMWARE and Hypervisor and Nutanix and Hypervisor Install load maintain upgrade test troubleshoot and provide IA support for the MTF networks.
Accomplish user setup and initial training as requested.
Provide Network Administrative support for all elements of the MTF network
As requested act as a technical action coordinator for the MilDet personnel supporting the MTF network
Utilize Retina and ACAS for vulnerability scanning purposes
Evaluate performance issues within the network and provide corrective action plans
Provide IT Performance and IA posture metrics at least quarterly and as required by direction of COR
Accomplish all IA corrective and mitigation actions as required to support attainment and maintenance of all ATOs.
Interface with external activities and act as POC for any planned upgrades additions or removals of any equipment or applications on the MTF network
Provide support for Networking issues to the Medical Applications SME in support of application installation and operation.
The ability to work independently with limited oversight from manager.
Must have a current Information Assurance (IA) Technical Level II (i.e. GSEC Security SCNP SSCP) certification or obtain within 6 months of hire
Experience with firewalls switches routers proxy servers antivirus servers and server hardware maintenance.
Ability to deploy on short notice for extended periods of undefined time in support of operational or humanitarian disasters.
Understanding of Navy Logistics policies and procedures
A willingness to work in an energetic fastpaced and team environment.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Desired:
Currently possess an active Secret security clearance.
Certified CISCO Network Associate (CCNA)
Direct onboard experience in Mercy Class hospital ship information system operation design troubleshooting and repair.
Experience in Joint Commission (Formally the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations) US Navy Board of Inspection and Survey and DoD Inspector General independent audits of HIPAA compliance and classified material control.
