Maintenance Repair Technician
Fulltime Permanent
40 hours/week 12 months/year
Pay Band 8 $27.00 $30.00 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of the Maintenance Repair Technician position is to provide maintenance and repairs on facility services equipment and maintain updated detailed records showing history of repairs for each piece of equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Small Engine Technician Certificate and/or Appliance Repair Technician Certificate.
Other mechanical training certificates would be considered an asset - Minimum of one (1) year recent experience working with trouble shooting and repairing (major and minor repairs) small engines and equipment (such as; autoscrubbers vacuums snow blowers lawn mowers etc.)
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with electronic inventory systems is an asset.
- Experience developing a preventative maintenance program is an asset.
- Willing to obtain and successfully complete specific maintenance equipment repair training provided by employer.
- Valid Ontario Class G2 drivers license.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a training program for training of new casuals and retraining of current staff on proper use and maintenance of facility services equipment.
- Maintaining up to date training records.
- Regularly reviews and inspects equipment to ensure optimal safety.
- Inspects operates and tests custodial equipment such as vacuum motors autoscrubbers snow blowers lawn mowers and other small equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Inspects custodial equipment to locate damages defects or wear and tests equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Disassemble equipment to diagnose problems and determine how to correct them.
- Dismantle custodial equipment by checking access and remove defective parts using hand tools or power tools.
- Performs routine maintenance such as inspecting motors or belts checking fluid levels replacing filters or doing other preventative maintenance actions.
- Develops electronic custodial equipment tracking system and maintains up to date records on each piece of equipment outlining inspection dates equipment repair dates and detailed description on each repair.
- Researches and correctly applies technical information that is required when performing maintenance repairs.
- Completes seasonal servicing and annual inspections of equipment.
- Safely transports chemicals in a Board vehicle to various locations.
- Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
- Identifies and makes recommendations for Supervisors assessment of items for normal repair and replacement.
- Researches new equipment and makes recommendations to management on equipment purchases.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Manager Facility Operations
SUPERVISION:
This position does not supervise.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primary work location will mainly be the Peterborough Shop located at the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Education Office (1994 Fisher Drive Peterborough); however frequent travel is required of this position on a daily basis using Board/Employer vehicle throughout the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. Primary work location may be discussed with Manager.
