Job Description

  • Grade twelve (12) or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience dealing with the public in a customer service environment including some cash handling experience is required

Assets:

  • Coursework in Chemistry
  • Experience working with toxic materials
  • Knowledge of waste reduction initiatives in the Waste branch
  • Experience working as an equipment operator

Skills Required for Success:

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of hazardous materials and the appropriate methods of handling storage and disposal
  • Ability to identify assess handle sort bulk and pack incoming materials delivered to recycling and household hazardous waste areas
  • Ability to deal with members of the public effectively and provide educational information concerning the Station and handling of materials
  • Ability to remain calm and react positively in emergencies
  • Excellent interpersonal customer service organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to work both independently and closely with a team
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful inclusive and serviceminded style
  • Alignment with the goals of the Environmental Management System Enviso
  • Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies
  • Embracing a culture of equity diversity reconciliation and inclusion
