The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region Highways & Aviation is looking for an Equipment Operator Journey 1/2 Flex in Homer to help usKeep Alaska Moving!Depending on the experience of the chosen candidate this role may be filled at either the Journey 1 or Journey 2 level. To be eligible for Journey 2 a valid class A CDL is required. The selected candidate may be eligible for a higher salary based on their experience. Specific salary details are provided below.
Equipment Operator Journey 1 $28.44$30.40 /Hourly (OT Eligible)
Equipment Operator Journey 2 $30.23$32.32 /Hourly (OT Eligible)What you will be doing:
At the Equipment Operator Journey 1 level the incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journeylevel operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of light duty equipment to perform maintenance activities in support of State of Alaska mission and maintenance of infrastructure. Use of heavyduty equipment will be in a training capacity.
As part of a maintenance crew this position performs various tasks associated with the yearround maintenance of state highways within the Peninsula District. The work includes but is not limited to operating and servicing heavy and lightduty equipment maintenance of all vegetation signs barricades fences bridges culverts and drainage structures bike paths and road surfaces within the State RightofWay as well as performing traffic control duties. Perform snow and ice removal with plow/sanders and graders with all attachments.Incumbent will be assigned the Homer maintenance station.
At the Equipment Operator Journey 2 level the incumbentwill perform equipment operations commensurate with a journeyman level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of heavy equipment to perform maintenance activities. Shift work may be required.Our organization mission and culture:

This position is part of the Homer maintenance crew. As part of the Homer Maintenance & Operations team the selected candidate will perform numerous yearround highway maintenance and operations tasks within the Peninsula District boundaries.Who we are looking for:

COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383) to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol TestingClearing house prior to performing safety sensitive duties and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.

Hire approval is conditional in that the proposed appointee successfully obtains a Class AAlaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within six (6) monthsof hire and signs an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment. - Equipment Operator Journey 2
A Class AAlaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain an NTanker endorsement within 90 daysof hireand sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY
Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures andCANNOTstart work in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required PreEmployment drug test. According to federal regulations all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol TestingClearinghousedatabase.ARMS & AMMUNITION REQUIREMENT
This position requires the use of firearm or ammunition. FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Equipment Operator Journey 1 orEquipment Operator Journey 2level depending on the applicants training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Level 1 promotion to the Level 2 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.Contact Information
