Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities and IT the Security Guard is responsible for keeping the building safe and secure while providing a welcoming presence. This position monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees visitors and other people to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. The position also patrols the premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors windows and gates.


The Security Guard supports the Prisma Community Care mission of providing affirming and inclusive services to promote wellbeing and advance health equity for diverse communities and all those seeking compassionate care especially people of color 2SLGBTQIA and Queer individuals and those affected by HIV.


The schedule for this position is the afternoon/evening shift. Monday Tuesday & Thursday: 2:00pm 10:00pm and Wednesday & Friday: 12:00pm to 8:00pm. You may flex for periodic weekends or weekday changes with events and PTO coverage.


What your day will look like at Prisma Community Care:

  • You will monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees visitors and other people to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
  • You will monitor surveillance systems to include cameras and alarms.
  • You will utilize security items including walkie talkies incident software and pepper spray. Pepper spray will require online training before being issued.
  • You will answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
  • You will provide a welcoming customerservice oriented presence at the front door security desk.
  • You will patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors windows and gates.
  • You will write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage theft presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences.
  • You may call police or fire departments in cases of emergency such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
  • You will circulate among visitors patrons and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • You will warn persons of rule infractions or violations and apprehend or evict violators from premises using force when necessary.
  • You may assist with meeting and event set up and break down.
  • You will report any issues that require maintenance especially security related issues.
  • You will ensure the propertys exterior and interior are clear of debris or trash while patrolling the premises.
  • You will enforce parking in proper areas for patients staff and deliveries.
  • You will report improper operation of lighting doors or building equipment.
  • You will enforce the facilitys policies and procedures including policies regarding tobacco restrictions loitering and disruptive behavior.

Who were looking for:

  • You have earned your high school diploma or GED.
  • You have basic computer skills including MS Outlook and Word.
  • You possess an Unarmed Security Guard card; or have ability to successfully complete Unarmed Security Guard Training within one week of employment.
  • You have demonstrated cultural competency to professionally and respectfully serve the 2SLGBTQIA communities.

Requirements

  • You have knowledge of security guard basics.
  • You have unarmed security guard experience.
  • You are bilingual fluent in English/Spanish.

Environmental Factors Physical Requirements and Compliance

  • This is an hourly fulltime position that includes direct client vendor and employee contact. This position requires a flexible work schedule including normal business evening and occasional weekend hours.
  • Work will occur both in a climatecontrolled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential and occasional outdoor work in all types of weather.
  • This position will require moving and/or lifting items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time.
  • Currently have or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Currently have or are able to obtain within 7 days of employment a clear TB test
  • Currently have or are able to obtain within 7 days of employment a current flu vaccination
  • Currently have or are able to initiate within 7 days of employment a HepatitisB primary vaccination series
  • Currently have or are able to obtain within 14 days of employment a CPR certification
