Summary/Objective: The ECE Teacher is responsible for the planning instruction and assessment of highquality comprehensive and developmentally appropriate programming for the morning Early Childhood program
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Planning and Instruction Utilize Grace Place established curriculum such as Creative Curriculum to develop scope and sequence of instruction daily lesson plans and learning activities to promote early learning skills that can be carried over into the home. Create a developmentally appropriate classroom environment and select diverse instructional resources and differentiated methods to meet students individual needs. Implement PACT (Parent and Child Together) Time by building strong relationships with families modeling and coaching parents in effective strategies. Maintain a wellorganized DCFcompliant safe and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of young children.
Assessment Observe and evaluate student performance and development; maintaining records of each childs progress to be included in the Teaching Strategies Gold evaluations. Complete all required Grace Place evaluations and checkpoints accurately and on time. Incorporate student performance and progress into lesson planning to achieve mastery. Identify needs of children and create appropriate interventions and referrals with the guidance of the program manager.
Volunteer Management Welcome train and manage volunteer involvement in the classroom Model and coach volunteers in appropriate strategies for instruction and classroom management Maintain high visibility and a handson presence with students staff volunteers and parents who are participating in the program
Communication Maintain communication with parents regarding their childs progress and needs Keep parents informed of daily activities and program expectations/changes Support the 6 parent events during the year Work collaboratively with coteachers and managers to improve program quality
Qualifications:Staff must qualify in at least one of the following:
Education/Experience: Must have a bachelors degree in a noneducational field but with at least 2 years of instructional experience. Or a degree in education with or without a valid Florida teaching certificate.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole). Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures and populations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite use of the internet and basic computer skills sufficient to maintain program records and budgets and communicate with parents volunteers partners and community. Strong interpersonal skills and written communication skills. Commitment to the mission and core values of Grace Place. Current first aid and CPR certificates (can obtain within 90 days of employment). Able to pass background checks and FDLE fingerprinting.
