Data Processing Manager 1 located in Seward!

What You Will Be Doing:
The Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) a division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development is recruiting for an innovative motivated and proactive Data Processing Manager 1 who will supervise information technology support professionals and leads and manages all data processing and information technology services for the division including instructional and administrative computing network administration classroom and instructional technology programming support services and telecommunications. As the principal technology leader for AVTEC this position provides the leadership vision and expertise for anticipating future data and technology needs of the division and workforce training units. The position develops and implements information technology strategies for campuswide initiatives and projects that will achieve the AVTEC mission of providing quality workforce training experiences for all Alaskans.

Training in information technology or a similar field with progressively responsible professional experience that developed expertise in one or more IT functions and the provision of IT services to business and public users and includes prior lead and/or supervisory responsibility.

It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom online selfstudy and onthejob) from accredited and unaccredited sources and longduration (such as a postsecondary degree) and shortduration (such as a seminar) programs.

Positions may be identified as being significantly involved in the following options: operations; programming/analysis; specialized support such as technical services data communications data base (DBMS) administration information management etc. Systems software and hardware used must have been equivalent in size and complexity to computer systems used by the State of Alaska.
