Requirements of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) :
- Master s Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
- Current and unrestricted license to practice Speech Language Pathology with the State of Texas through TDLR.
- Current CPR/BCLS certification.
Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) :
- Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) are responsible for the delivery of quality care to patients. This involves assessing diagnosing treating and helping to prevent communication and swallowing disorders.
- Performs periodic reevaluation of the patient as necessary and makes adjustments in the patient s treatment plan as needed by the physicians goals and orders.
- Documentation in the patient s medical record is clear concise and identifies target symptoms.
- Frequency of documentation is appropriate to the level of care patient requires and addresses referrals as appropriate to internal departments and referrals to outside providers.
