Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Taxations Office of Information Technology seeks an experienced and motivated Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Engineer to ensure the efficient operation of Virginia Taxs cloud and onpremise infrastructure. The Cloud Engineer will contribute to the development maintenance and security of systems by optimizing performance scalability and costeffectiveness.
The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies platforms and applications. This role involves supporting cloud migrations resolving technical issues providing application support performing OS administration tasks managing network configurations assisting with datacenter operations ensuring continuous cloud environment support security & compliance while ensuring seamless system integration all in support of the agencys mission.
This position is located in our Central Office in downtown Richmond Virginia.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule.
The anticipated hiring salary is up to $124000 commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Progressive knowledge and experience in Windows and/or Linux server administration
Handson experience with core AWS services (EC2 S3 VPC RDS Lambda)
Experience with Infrastructure Code (IaC) tools (CloudFormation Terraform)
Strong understanding of networking concepts
Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving skills
Strong communication and collaborationskills
Experience with security monitoring tools and best practices
Additional Considerations
AWS certifications (e.g. AWS Certified SysOps Administrator AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python Bash).
Experience with compliance standards (SEC530 NIST IRS 1075 etc.)
