Job Description
Security Guard II
Must meet the requirements of Chapter 493 Florida Statutes and have a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience
Security:
Daily Security Operations: Actively participate in the daily implementation of physical security measures ensuring adherence to museum standards while demonstrating professionalism and exceptional customer service.
Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations of incidents involving injuries to visitors or staff as well as any loss or damage to artwork or museum property.
Patrolling Duties: Monitor assigned areas to detect and prevent vandalism mechanical issues fire hazards and theft.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations including disasters or security breaches in accordance with established protocols.
Systems:
Assist in planning monitoring and controlling electronic security systems to ensure optimal performance and coverage.
Maintain accurate records including visitor logs property passes and volunteer checkins.
Conduct inspections of incoming and outgoing packages and monitor building access to maintain a secure environment.
Acting supervisor:
- In the absence of the Building Maintenance & Security Supervisor and as assigned supervises all security personnel and OPS staff during events scheduled outside of normal business hours.
- Assists with conducting security training for all new security staff.
- Provides timely and accurate information to management on unusual conditions or situations within the museum.
Other:
- Provides security desk coverage as needed or assigned.
- Assist with set up and break down of equipment chairs and tables for Harn activities.
- Provides security escorts as assigned.
- Assist with monitoring of climate controls.
- High school diploma
- One year of relevant experience
- Ability to deal effectively with individuals.
- Ability to recognize dangerous or potentially dangerous situations.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to respond calmly in an emergency situation and determine proper course of action.
- Ability to make accurate observations.
- Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
