Job Description:
Join the Caribbean Studies Network as a Student Assistant supporting digital and publicfacing projects under the Boldt Chair in the Humanities. Youll collaborate directly with Professor Kristina MedinaVilario on digital platforms like ArcGIS StoryMaps earchives and the Network website as well as assist in research marketing and planning for sustainable system growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in Caribbean culture digital humanities website development and academic outreach.
Responsibilities include:
Update and maintain the Caribbean Studies Network website and digital archive
Assist with ArcGIS StoryMaps and research planning for longterm digital strategy
Create and manage marketing and promotional materials (e.g. social media flyers)
Support metadata tagging and accessible design of digital content
Contribute to event documentation outreach campaigns and design updates
Participate in biweekly meetings with Professor MedinaVilario
Qualifications:
Required:
Current St. Olaf student
Advanced Spanish proficiency (reading writing and comprehension)
Strong attention to detail and digital organization
Interest in Caribbean Latin American or global studies
Willingness to learn ArcGIS Omeka or related platforms
Preferred:
Experience with website updates (e.g. WordPress Wix etc.)
Marketing and/or web design experience
Familiarity with digital archives GIS or multimedia tools
French or Haitian Creole a plus
