Construction & Technical Services (CTS) consists of a design construction and technical team of architects engineers elevator mechanics as well as project & property managers who provide services for timesensitive rehabilitation renovations and maintenance in Cityowned properties.
The DCAS Trade Shops help with all inhouse construction and repair services needed within DCASmanaged sites. The Shops perform smallscale renovations such as partitions/drywall work rough and finish carpentry interior/exterior painting electrical and plumbing repairs structural steel concrete and masonry work and manufacture inhouse replacement of parts for obsolete equipment and locksmith services and Mayoral Ceremonies and Special Events.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Sheet Metal Workers the duties and responsibilities of a Sheet Metal Worker will include but will not be limited to:
Perform sheet metal work expeditiously.
Execute emergency assignments as necessary.
During an emergency make the necessary repairs even if temporary while preparing and or fabricating materials for a permanent fix.
Alter and repair metal entrances and accesses such as diamond plates and grates elevated structures including skylights ducts leaders gutters and drip pans.
Knowledgeable in reviewing blueprints to be able to identify the tools or material that are necessary to execute and complete the given tasks.
Able to maintain a writing list of tools and equipment necessary to conduct repairs and requests to replenish the necessary materials and/or special tools.
Skilled in the proper use of tools and equipment required for the fabrication and installation of ductwork and HVAC equipment as well as taking proper care of the tools and materials.
Keep records and prepare reports of completed work.

Qualifications :
1. Five years of fulltime experience as a Sheet Metal Worker; or
2. Three years of such experience as described in 1 above plus sufficient helper or apprentice experience or relevant education acquired in an approved trade technical or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of helper or apprenticeship experience or relevant education.
