Job Description

  • Bachelors Degree in Urban and Regional Planning Landscape Architecture Urban Design Environmental Studies or a related degree. Masters degree in the abovenoted disciplines is preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years of progressively relevant and responsible experience including planning public engagement and project management

Assets:

  • Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP)

Skills required for success:

  • Experience in municipal government and understanding of the land development and parkland development process
  • Detailed knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning in general and environmental/open space planning in detail
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation regulatory requirements and applicable governing policies and plans that inform open space development in Edmonton
  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners and collaborators
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and research methodologies including quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Knowledge of computer systems including word processing spreadsheets mapping and design applications
  • Ability to build personal networks establishing and maintaining effective working relationships across City Departments and externally with industry government and community partners
