Your Role as an AfterHours OnCall Hospice RN

  • Patient Assessment: Evaluate the physical emotional psychosocial and spiritual needs of hospice patients during afterhours situations.
  • Care Plan Implementation: Execute individualized care plans providing interventions that align with hospice philosophy and physician orders.
  • Symptom Management: Address pain and symptom concerns promptly to ensure patient comfort.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate significant changes in patient conditions to the interdisciplinary team physicians and caregivers.
  • Family Support: Provide empathetic support and education to patients families helping them navigate endoflife care.
  • Critical Thinking: Recognize and respond to deviations from expected conditions ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure seamless compassionate care during afterhours coverage.

What Youll Need

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Certificate Diploma Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a clinical care setting (Hospice or Home Health experience strongly preferred).
  • Licensure: Current state RN license.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on compassion and professionalism.
  • Travel: Reliable transportation valid drivers license and the ability to travel within the coverage area (approximately 50%).
  • Ability to sit stand bend lift and move intermittently with the capability to lift 50100 lbs.
