SUMMARY:The Coordinator of Behavioral Health and Social Emotional Support in collaboration with other district and school leaders will lead and support a comprehensive fully integrated and tiered system of behavioral and social emotional supports. This position is responsible for the developing organization and coordination of student behavioral health and social emotional learning to support the goal of facilitating and promoting appropriate behavioral health and social emotional supports in the school setting. The incumbent will be responsible for providing direction coordination and oversight of social emotional support mental health and behavioral health services and to facilitate access to appropriate schoolbased and community services to all DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Assist in all aspects of development coordination and operation of counseling and support services to students. Assist school personnel in identifying social emotional mental health and behavioral health needs of students and develop partnerships and programs to service student needs. Serve as district wide coordinator for PBIS planning and implementation. Serve as consultant to specialized programs throughout the district for both social emotional and behavioral needs. Ensure all schools have a process to facilitate and document reintegration of students after placement for social emotional support mental health services short term independent study and/or trauma. Research and identify successful models for providing mental health services and develop plans for an evidencebased continuum of schoolbased mental health services which address all tiers of needs. Assist with coaching supervising and evaluating behavioral health staff and intern clinicians to work effectively in a school setting. Identify and secure appropriate clinical supervision of district mental health staff. Assist in the development and review of departmental policies and procedures regarding social emotional learning and bullying prevention initiatives. Assist in the development of policies and protocols for communication between school administration and behavioral health staff as well as other providers. Collaborate with school and district administrators to develop systems and protocols to ensure student needs are met. Serve as a resource to school leaders and school counselors in areas related to instructional strategies school attendance discipline student social emotional needs and child abuse recognition and reporting. Identify and coordinate the use of district wide behavioral health social emotional or school climate screening tools. Identify data to serve as measurable indicators of success and develop a system for collecting analyzing and reporting on outcomes. Consult with school leaders on social emotional or behavioral health needs related to the entire student body and individual students. Assist with facilitation of building leadership or student support teams. Assist with development and oversight of social emotional programming throughout the district. Assist with the development and updating of the DCAP and collaborate with building principals to develop and implement a strong IST program and ensure fidelity of implementation of IST processes including reporting and monitoring of behavioral health and social emotional outcomes. Perform regular site visits at each school. Develop and oversee mental health internship program including recruiting and hiring interns outreach to and communication with university partners coordination of intern training and supervision as needed. Maintain a district wide website on behavioral health and social emotional support systems Develop written report of program implementation including suggestions for improvement as needed. Provide training and professional development for staff and families around childrens socialemotional and behavioral health issues. Present to school councils parent advisory councils special education parent advisory council district advisory council or school committee as needed. Adhere to all federal and state laws court orders and District policies and regulations. Articulates to all stakeholders the importance of social and emotional learning (SEL) within the Wilmington Public Schools to improve the academic outcomes and success of students. Outlines strategies for school administration and teaching staff to connect mental health with schoolwide social and emotional learning programming. Attend occasional night meetings. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or his/her RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises and evaluates all Behavioral Health Interns; assists building principals with supervision and evaluation of building based behavioral health staff (e.g. school psychologists adjustment counselors/social workers guidance counselors); assists Director of Student Support Services with evaluation of district level behavioral health staff (e.g. school psychologists adjustment counselors/social workers BCBAs).
