QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional Requirements

  1. A registered nurse with a minimum of a bachelors degree in nursing with a masters degree in nursing preferred.
  2. Current license to practice as a registered nurse in South Dakota.
  3. Ability to obtain a valid South Dakota postsecondary teaching certificate.
  4. Minimum of three years of clinical experience. (Includes CMA CNA).
  5. Encouraged to be a member of a professional nursing organization.
  6. Excellent people skills affinity for working with students patients and coworkers.
  7. Computer literate.

  1. Displays skills in teaching and use of technology.
  2. Possesses the ability to motivate students to become lifelong learners.
  3. Works in partnership with other faculty members to create an effective teaching team.
  4. Demonstrates personal and professional integrity and responsibility.

Job Requirements

  1. Demonstrates understanding and support of the philosophy and mission of the school and nursing department.
  2. Displays knowledge of the role and scope of practice of the licensed registered nurse and practical nurse.
  3. Participates in activities which facilitate the faculty members own nursing competence and professional expertise in the area of teaching responsibility and maintains clinical competence.

REPORTS TO: Nursing Department Supervisor Dean of Academics Vice President

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists in the designing planning implementation and evaluation of the curriculum.
  2. Develops implements evaluates and updates the purpose philosophy and outcomes.
  3. Evaluates the curriculum using a systematic plan based on program outcomes and quality improvement.
  4. Develop evaluates and revises the student admission progression retention and graduation polices consistent with the policies of the governing institution.
  5. Evaluates student achievement of curricular objectives and outcomes related to nursing knowledge and practice.
  6. Provides student evaluation of teaching effectiveness.
  7. Teaches selected theory content and supervises instructs and evaluates students in the clinical area.
  8. Contributes to the development and maintenance of collegial relationships with Lake Area Tech and clinical agency staff.
  9. Participates in academic advising and guidance.
  10. Monitors the instruction of selected preceptors.
  11. Participates in nursing faculty meetings.
  12. Fosters and upholds to policies of Lake Area Tech and the specific policies of the nursing department.
  13. Serves on selected Lake Area Tech committees.
  14. Participates in student recruitment activities and employer events.
  15. Serves as a course coordinator for selected courses.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

190 day contract starting Fall 2025 (August) with salary and benefits set by the Watertown Board of Education in accordance with the state postsecondary salary formula. Evening and weekend hours required for clinical instruction.
