SUMMARY: Lead the school community to increase student achievement through planning and organizing a school culture focused on teaching and learning continuous improvement of curriculum instruction and assessment effective management of operations and resources in a safe and orderly environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides direction and oversight of the administration and delivery of education ensuring academic accountability for students; evaluates effectiveness of educational instruction and provides feedback; ensures adherence with applicable state federal and district policies guidelines rules and regulations.
  • Collaborates with other administrators educators staff parents community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure educational program effectiveness and facility safety; addresses concerns and issues; develops coordinates and oversees the implementation of instructional program issue resolutions and program improvements; ensures educational program meets the needs of community served.
  • Performs budget planning prioritizing and managing; oversees the effective use of resources within budget parameters; provides recommendations for budget development and adjustments.
  • Plans organizes and oversees school facility and community events; oversees and ensures the safety and security of participants facility and equipment.
  • Researches professional development needs; provides and coordinates the delivery of professional development to ensure the alignment of instructional practice with district initiatives.
  • Reviews and analyzes student achievement data; prepares and maintains reports and program documentation.
  • Oversees and provides direct supervision including conducting performance evaluations coordinating training and implementing hiring discipline and termination procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters degree in educational administration or related field required.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience required.
  • Prior Assistant Principal experience required.
  • Experience in supervising and evaluating classroom instruction.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Arizona Administrator certification.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Applicable Federal state county and city statutes rules policies and procedures.
  • Applicable Dysart Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Supervisory principles practices and techniques.
  • Practices and methods of coaching and leading the work of others.
  • Principles and practices of management and administration of school programs.
  • Curriculum development practices.
  • Principles practices and methods of budgeting procurement and human resource management.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation strategies.
  • Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations.
  • Principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
  • Principles and practices of group facilitation and building consensus.
  • Customer service principles.
  • Modern office technology.

SKILL IN:

  • Managing supervising evaluating and motivating staff.
  • Training coaching and overseeing the development of staff.
  • Directing the development and implementation of goals objectives policies procedures and work standards.
  • Reviewing research and implementing industry trends solutions and best practices.
  • Directing the analysis evaluation and interpretation of written materials and statistical data for reports and recommendations.
  • Authoring and editing complex reports and documents.
  • Facilitating group discussions and building consensus using persuasive reasoning.
  • Facilitating effective collaboration.
  • Providing mediation negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Managing budgets and allocating resources to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Exercising strategic and political acumen tact and diplomacy.
  • Public speaking.
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws codes regulations and standards.
  • Providing customer service.
  • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisors the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: balancing stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking lifting fingering grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor office environment; may require some work in the field with moderate exposure to travel.
