Job Description

FLSA: Exempt

Title: Exceptional Student Services Supervisor

Qualifications:

  1. Valid Louisiana teachers certificate; masters degree preferred
  2. Special education certification preferred
  3. Five years of teaching experience or related field

Reports to: Exceptional Student Services Director

Job Goal: The Supervisor of Exceptional Student Services (ESS) is responsible for overseeing the delivery of specialized educational programs and support services to students with exceptional needs within an ESS Community ensuring compliance with legal mandates and best practices. This role involves managing a team of special education teachers therapists and related service providers coordinating individualized education plans (IEPs) and advocating for the needs of exceptional students within the ESS Community. Additionally the Supervisor is committed to providing a highquality education that fosters the academic growth and overall development of students ensuring they elevate to their maximum potential.

Term: 12 months

Performance Responsibilities for Supervisor of Exceptional Student Services

  1. Leadership and Program Development
    • Develop implement and oversee specialized educational programs and support services for students with exceptional needs.
    • Provide leadership in the development and evaluation of curriculum and instructional strategies tailored to the needs of exceptional students.
  2. Compliance and Accountability
    • Ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations including IDEA Section 504 and ADA requirements.
    • Follow state federal and board policies
    • Monitor and maintain accurate records related to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and other mandated documentation.
  3. Team Management and Professional Development
    • Supervise support and progress monitor special education teachers therapists and related service providers relative to student success
    • Plan facilitate and evaluate success of professional development opportunities to build staff capacity in delivering effective instruction and support for exceptional students.
  4. Collaboration and Advocacy
    • Serve as a liaison between schools families and community agencies to ensure coordinated services and advocacy for exceptional students.
    • Collaborate with administrators and educators to create effective educational environments and promote best practices in special education.
  5. Student Outcomes and Growth
    • Actively lead and participate in effective collaboration routines which analyze student performance data to assess program effectiveness and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
    • Foster academic social and emotional growth by ensuring students receive highquality education and services tailored to their unique needs.
  6. Conflict Resolution and ProblemSolving
    • Address concerns and resolve conflicts involving students families and staff related to exceptional services within ESS Community.
    • Mediate disputes and provide guidance to ensure appropriate solutions in alignment with district policies and regulations within ESS Community.
  7. Strategic Planning and Policy Development
    • Participate in strategic planning for districtwide initiatives impacting exceptional student services.
    • Assist in developing policies and procedures to improve the delivery of special education services and maintain consistency across the district.
  8. Communication and Reporting
    • Prepare and present accurate reports to district leadership and the school board on the progress and effectiveness of exceptional student services.
    • Maintain open and transparent communication with stakeholders to foster trust and engagement.
  9. Continuous Improvement
    • Stay current with trends research and legal updates in special education to guide program development and implementation.
    • Evaluate and refine service delivery models to ensure they meet the evolving needs of exceptional students.
    • Establish and executive performance objectives and selfevaluation plan
  10. Additional Duties
    • To perform any additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent
