Job Description

Position Summary: The AV Specialist supports and manages all audiovisual (AV) technology for the school district ensuring seamless operation for classrooms meetings assemblies performances athletic events and live streaming. This role provides technical support training and maintenance for AV systems to enhance teaching learning and school events.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary coursework or certification in AV technology or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience with AV systems (projectors sound video streaming etc.) preferably in an educational or event setting.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to nontechnical users.
  • Experience with video conferencing (Zoom Google Meet etc.) and live streaming platforms.
  • Familiarity with video editing software is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move AV equipment and work flexible hours for events as needed.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to pass a background check.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Experience in Web content delivery solutions including RSS and video streaming

Web video production and posting

Strong writing editing and research skills

Script writing and storyboarding skills

Ability to consistently meet deadlines

General knowledge of digital photography

Selfmotivated with the ability and willingness to also work within a team

Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels including the general public

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks

Major Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:

  • AV Setup & Operation:Set up operate and break down AV equipment (projectors sound systems microphones cameras video conferencing tools etc.) for classrooms and school events.
  • Event Support:Provide AV support for assemblies performances athletic events and live streams including recording and broadcasting as needed.
  • Technical Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve AV equipment issues promptly to minimize disruption to instruction and events.
  • User Training:Train and assist teachers staff and students on the use of AV equipment and software for presentation purposes.
  • Maintenance & Inventory:Maintain clean and repair AV equipment. Track inventory and manage equipment checkout and return processes.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with IT facilities and event staff to ensure AV needs are met for all school and district activities.
  • Documentation:Maintain accurate records of AV equipment maintenance schedules and event support.
  • Technology Research:Stay current with new AV technologies and recommend upgrades or improvements to enhance school AV capabilities.
  • Live Streaming Sporting Event:Overseeing and coordinating livestreamed sporting events produced by the CISD student Tiger Media club. Instructing supporting and mentoring CISD students as they learn to operate audiovisual equipment for live sports broadcast productions.
  • Performance Arts Center Coordinator:The Performance Arts Center Coordinator manages the daily operations and scheduling of the districts performance venues ensuring smooth execution of school and community events. Collaborate with staff students and outside organizations to support a wide range of performances from concerts and plays to assemblies and special events. Additionally the coordinator oversees technical resources and provides guidance to students and faculty in the use of audiovisual and stage equipment.

Work Environment

  • School campuses classrooms auditoriums athletic fields and district offices.
  • May require evening or weekend hours for special events.
  • Physical activity including lifting carrying and setting up AV equipment.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions
  • Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer
