Job Description
General Statement of Job
The Grounds and General Maintenance employee is responsible for maintaining the appearance safety and functionality of grounds and facilities throughout the school system. This role involves a wide range of outdoor maintenance tasks including landscaping minor repairs and seasonal upkeep to ensure that all grounds remain in excellent condition yearround.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in groundskeeping landscaping or a related field preferred.
- Valid NC driver license with a good driving record.
- Basic knowledge of landscaping equipment and maintenance techniques.
- Must maintain a current listed and readily available telephone number and be subject to call for service.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns gardens athletic fields playgrounds and other outdoor areas.
- Operate landscaping and groundskeepingequipment (mowers trimmers blowers etc).
- Perform seasonal tasks suchas mowing snow removal leaf collection and irrigation system maintenance.
- Inspect grounds and facilities to identify and address maintenanceissues.
- Assist with general maintenance and minor repairs as assigned across school facilities.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Work independently and as part of a team to complete assigned projects efficiently.
- Communicate effectivelywith the Director of Maintenance and other staff to coordinatetasks.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Willingness and ability to obtain any required certifications or licensesrelated to equipment operation pesticide application or other jobrelated areas.
- Perform other duties and tasks as required by the direct supervisor.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in all types of weather.
- Physical labor including lifting bending and operating heavy equipment.
- Travel between school sites.
