Job Description

Responsibilities

Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer to become a part of Peratons Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative effective and secure business processes.

Location: Onsite in Arlington VA

Key Requirements & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage: Small IT/Support team of network and server administrators on a program of <60 users.
  • Windows Server Administration: Manage and administer Windows servers including installation configuration and maintenance of operating systems roles and features. Ensure servers are properly configured for optimal performance security and reliability.
  • Professional Windows Cluster Setup: Design deploy and maintain Windows Server Failover Clustering for high availability and fault tolerance. Configure and manage Windows cluster resources including shared storage and cluster networks.
  • Windows Server iSCSI Multipath Configuration: Implement and configure iSCSI multipathing on Windows servers to ensure redundant and highperformance storage connectivity. Troubleshoot and optimize iSCSI multipath configurations for maximum efficiency and reliability.
  • Networking Expertise: Perform subnet configuration to segment and organize network traffic effectively. Configure switches and VLANs to optimize network performance and security. Troubleshoot networking issues including connectivity problems and performance degradation. Understand Fibre Channel and iSCSI SFP technologies and their integration within the network infrastructure.
  • Array Configuration: Configure storage arrays including Dell SAN storage such as ME40X series to meet performance and capacity requirements. Optimize array configurations for specific workloads and applications. Troubleshoot arrayrelated issues and implement solutions to ensure uninterrupted storage access.
  • MPiO Installation and Configuration: Install and configure Multipath I/O (MPiO) software to enable redundant and loadbalanced paths to storage devices. Ensure MPiO configurations are properly optimized for performance and reliability.
  • Dell Server and SAN Storage Troubleshooting and Configuration: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Dell servers and SAN storage systems including hardware failures performance bottlenecks and configuration errors. Configure Dell servers and SAN storage systems according to best practices and specific requirements.
  • Virtualization Administration: Configure and maintain Virtual Desktop Server and Network Infrastructure (i.e. VMware VDI ESXi HyperV) to include Active Directory and File Share Servers.

You will:

  • Lead and manage small IT Support team and server administrators manage domain accounts network rights and access to systems and equipment for <60 users while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Maintain patch and update software and hardware used in the digital forensics laboratory to ensure compatibility and effectiveness.
  • Install troubleshoot configure and maintain onpremises network infrastructure workstations servers system hardware software and peripheral equipment in accordance with CIF & Department standards.
  • Install replace configure and optimize network routers and switches.
  • Validate and manage network backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Document and maintain connectivity diagrams for CIF hosted systems.
  • Propose and implement improvements to modernize existing network architecture and infrastructure to support virtualization and cloud (Azure) integrations.
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current onpremises IT infrastructure including hardware software networking and security components.
  • Identify strengths weaknesses bottlenecks and areas of improvement
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including IT personnel management and other relevant groups to gather insights on infrastructure pain points and business
  • Work with stakeholders to define future IT requirements and goals over the next three years considering factors such as scalability performance security and compliance.
  • Produce a detailed 3 to 5year modernization plan including milestones timelines budget estimates and recommended technologies.
  • Research and stay updated on emerging technology trends and best practices in IT
  • infrastructure including cloud computing (e.g Azure) virtualization security protocols and remote access solutions.
  • Identify potential risks associated with the current infrastructure and proposed modernization plan.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address possible challenges.
  • Integrate new capabilities (e.g. Azure cloud solutions) with the existing laboratory operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 12 years of relevant (network and server administration) experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership manager or supervisory role.
  • Windows Server experience with Windows Server Administration; Professional Windows Cluster Setup; Windows Server iSCSI Multipath Configuration.
  • Demonstrated Networking Expertise.
  • Array Configuration Experience.
  • MPiO Installation and Configuration.
  • Server and SAN Storage Troubleshooting and Configuration.
  • Virtualization Administration Experience.
  • Possess any one of the following certifications:
    • CASPCECCNPCCNA
  • Possess Security certification.
  • Ability to execute all Key Responsibilities of this position with high proficiency.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols firewall management and security best practices.
  • Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
  • U.S. citizenship and an interim Secret security clearance to start.
    • The ability to obtain a final TopSecret clearance.
