Job Description
This position is central to the missionaries role to Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement repentance baptism receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. Interpreters are support entry level individual contributors that provide interpretation for nonEnglish speaking missionaries at the Missionary Training Center in Provo Utah. Also may provide translation services for assigned projects and curriculum.
Responsibilities
Reports to supervisor or trainer level in the training department
Interprets for up to 25 different meetings that missionaries experience throughout the duration of their stay at the MTC
Translates for assigned projects as determined by manager
Participates in team training meetings
Supports an effort to build and maintain an environment of increased harmony trust and good will within the department and the MTC.
Other additional responsibilities as assigned by the Interpretation Coordinator.
May include other temporary assigned duties at the MTC (e.g. assisting with Mission Leadership Seminar)
Qualifications
Required:
1 year of experience speaking a second language
Native or near native command of English and a second language including grammar vocabulary pronunciation and social context.
Welldeveloped interpretation skills.
High level of understanding of gospel terminology and usage including Preach My Gospel.
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using monitors/equipment.
*Must be available to work INPERSON on Sundays and Evenings during the week.
Preferred:
1 year of experience as an interpreter or translator
Welldeveloped translation skills.
