Job Title: Assistant PrincipalElementary School
Supervisor: Elementary School Principal

Summary:The Elementary Assistant Principal assists the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students staff and families. The Assistant Principal works closely with the building principal to implement an instructional vision and focused plan for improving student achievement while narrowing the disparities between the highest and lowestperforming students. Supervises and supports professional educators in strengthening their instructional practices. Creates a continuous learning community for all staff and students by fostering a culture of high expectations and providing all students with equitable access to highquality and culturally relevant instruction. Builds strong partnerships with families and the community; creates a safe welcoming environment that reflects and supports the racial and ethnic diversity of the student population and communities served. The Assistant Principal acts in the capacity of the principal during the principals absence from the school.

Education and Experience:
Certificates Licenses Registrations
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact appropriately with teachers staff community members and students. Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing fluently in English. Preference may be given to applicants fluent in English and Spanish. Ability to present information and respond effectively to questions in oneonone small and large group situations to students and other school staff. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions procedure manuals and governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest proportions percentages area circumference and area. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra geometry fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to complete instructions furnished in written oral schedule or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use database software email internet software spreadsheets teaching software and word processing software.
