Job Summary
The Body Shop Assistant keeps the body shop clean of dirt and debris prewashes and details vehicles delivers parts to body shop technicians and assists other personnel in the prepping and repair of vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities
Job duties for the Body Shop Assistant include but are not limited to:
- Prewashes all vehicles to remove dirt and debris prior to written estimates repairs and painting.
- Full Cleaning of all repaired vehicles before vehicles leave dealership.
- Keeps body shop clean (cleaning floors taking out garbage/scrap metal etc) as well as lot around body shop. Must be able to shovel snow as well.
- Assists personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Moves vehicles to designated parking location for body shop
- Performs all duties in a safe manner following all company safety guidelines and policies.
- Performs other duties as requested or required.
- Assists Glass Technician with setting Windshields when needed.
- Assists Parts Advisor with Putting away and pulling Parts.
- Perform Rock Chip repairs.
Qualifications
Good communication skills and multitasking skills. Driver license must meet insurance companies standards to operate company and customer vehicles. Must be good at driving large vehicles in tight locations. Must have exemplary attendance.
Working Conditions
The Body Shop Assistant works primarily indoors in the body shop which is often noisy with some dust and paint fumes (masks can be provided). Extended working hours may be required. On occasion will need to work outdoors where the weather conditions may vary depending on the season. Will be working in wet conditions while washing and cleaning vehicles.
Physical Requirements
The Body Shop Assistant may work in awkward and cramped positions and the work can be physically demanding. This position will include heavy lifting upwards of 50lbs on occasion. Significant standing walking moving climbing carrying bending kneeling crawling reaching handling pushing and pulling. Must be able to move about the complex in all weather conditions and be able to enter and exit most types of vehicles.
