Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institutedesignated cancer center in Washington.

Responsibilities
Primary Job Duties:
- Tissue culture of primary and immortalized human and rodent cell lines
- Molecular biology techniques such as protein extraction immunoprecipitation Western blotting
- Microbiology techniques such as cloning maxipreps minipreps of bacterial cultures
- Preparation of lentivirus for genetic studies
- Maintaining organized and complete lab records and inventories
- Preparation of reagents and media used in experiments
- Identify methodological problems in research protocol and implement modifications to optimize experimental results.
- Prepare and present written or oral progress reports concerning studies including assembly organization and interpretation of data.
- Assist in the design of experiments; may be responsible for the performance of individual research projects.
- Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research.
- Assist in publication of results by proofreading editing and contributing ideas.
- Manage research records and sample databases
- Train and mentor new personnel
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in a scientific field or extensive laboratory experience (4 years) in a related scientific field
- 2 years previous experience working in a laboratory outside of school coursework
- Must have scientific knowledge in the area of study and basic laboratory skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Independent research experience in addition to school lab experience (Level II outside of coursework)
- Highly motivated and intellectually curious
- A solid background knowledge in cell biology and/or cancer biology
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to maintain organized laboratory notebook and computer files
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Experience with standard laboratory techniques including cell culture flow cytometry Western blotting and immunofluorescence/confocal microscopy
The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.48 to $37.70 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
