Job Title: School Speech Language Pathologist East Valley School District 1.0 FTE
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Special Programs
Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day 184 days per year starting at the beginning of the 2025/2026 school year.
Salary: East Valley Certificated Salary Schedule $56397 $113589 depending on placement per degree credits and experience.

Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Special Programs or designee the speech language pathologist will assess diagnose and treat a variety of speech sound language voice fluency and swallowing disorders. Utilizing leadership advocacy and collaboration schoolbased speech language pathologists provide prevention assessment and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language speech voice and fluency. These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals.
Essential Job Functions:
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
- Ensure implementation of screening and followup evaluation procedures utilized to identify students with communication needs as per WAC 392172A.
- Utilize appropriate diagnostic instruments and techniques for determining essential IEP goal statements and related service needs.
- Assist school personnel parents and community agencies in obtaining appropriate programming for students with communication needs through evaluations consultations therapy and demonstration teaching relating to individual students.
- Support building(s) with early intervention services as needed per their RTI/MTSS model.
- Collaborate regularly with students parents and school staff concerning individual student communication disorders.
- Maintain necessary paperwork and records relating to students receiving assessment instructional and habilitative services.
- Provide a full range of speech and language services to children ages 321 including screening and assessment.
- Maintain and update professional skills by keeping up to date on current developments trends and/or policies relating to students with communication disorders.
- Participate in and/or present inservice activities through attendance at conferences inservice meetings and staff meetings.
- Provide for the improvement of speech and language programs services and instruction offered to students through inservice training of parents teachers paraeducators and volunteers.
- Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules and regulations.
- Participate in activities that assist with professional development and use clinicaleducational research information to enhance speech and language services.
- Be responsible for monitoring and assuring compliance with all district policy/procedures and rules and regulations (e.g. eligibility evaluation and placement) as specified for students with disabilities per WAC 392172A.
- Consult with individuals (parents staff and students) to recommend approaches/programs to meet the comprehensive educational needs of students.
- Provide social and academic guidance for students.
- Promote the districts educational goals through parent conferences and related activities.
- Communicate frequently with families about the instructional program and student progress.
- Observe and evaluate students performance.
- Maintain appropriate student records.
- Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Participate in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to use data to support student growth.
- Pursue professional growth through coursework workshops and reading.
- Exhibit flexibility highstress tolerance reliability punctuality and confidentiality.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Maintain a consistent presence at the assigned work site(s) and work the regular work hours specified by the contract.
- Professionally interact with a diverse range of colleagues members of the public and students.
- Comply with and uphold all district policies and all applicable laws.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate no later than the first contracted day of the 2025/2026 school year with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations.
- Speech Language Pathologist endorsement required.
- Must have appropriate degree and certification/license to meet requirements of a certified speech language pathologist.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
- Valid drivers license or evidence of mobility.
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later).
- I9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
- Completion of all district required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and may be exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
