Are you looking for a part time role where you can use your communication social media and creativity skills to have a positive impact on your fellow students

The Faculty of Arts Education and Student Experience Team (ESE) are creating a team of four positive proactive and approachable Student Engagement Associates who will work with us to explore ways of increasing student engagement with university facilities and opportunities.

These roles are for current Faculty of Arts students only.


Start Date:22 September 2025
End Date: 19 June 2026
Working Hours:2 hours per week
Pay Rate: 12.21 per hour plus holiday pay
Location: University Park Campus
Dress Code: Smart casual

The duties will include:

Over the course of the 202526 academic year the role will involve the following.

  • Attending a regular in person short team meeting to agree targets and output.
  • Creating social media content regarding key information and facilities at the University according to a schedule
  • Liaising with student societies and course reps to ensure that messages are shared across as many platforms as possible.
  • Supporting student focused events such as mental health day.
  • Working with the ESE team to develop ideas to increase engagement and spread awareness of university initiatives such as Black History Month LGBT month Disability Awareness Month according to the calendar as well as Access and Participation projects such as GRIT and Writing Cafes.
  • Contributing blogs and articles to the ESE bulletins.
  • Working with School ESE teams to support School based projects and initiatives.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the role as the year develops.


Skills and experience required for the role:

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to produce high quality social media videobased content.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Knowledge and Experience to be gained from the role:

  • Experience working in a team and on own initiative.
  • Knowledge of the university structure and key student focused teams.


What can we offer you

A friendly and supported team role with opportunities to develop and hone your communication skills via social media creation blogs and attendance at ESE events.

A flexible approach to work. It is intended that these roles will fit around your study/personal commitments and be no more than 2 hours per week on average. You will be able to work remotely according to your own timetable. The only fixed commitment will be a regular short team meeting which may be held at an agreed time convenient to all. We will make reasonable adjustments to support Engagement Associates with additional requirements within their roles.
