Canons House Transforming Young Lives
We have an exciting opportunity for a Cook to join our Canons House Team in Devizes ensuring that our Children and Young People receive quality nutrition and meals tailored to individuals dietary requirements.
Canons House is a lifeline for families of children with profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex health and care needs. Our team at Canons House support children and young people aged 5 to 17 to experience stability familiarisation a sense of belonging and positive physical emotional and mental health.
As a Cook you will be responsible for the planning and preparation of varied nutritious meals for the Children and Young People at Canons House for their lunch and evening meal services including the baking of cakes and biscuits. You will provide the residents at Canons House with opportunities to engage in menu choices basic food preparation cooking and cleaning. Completing a daily kitchen log about fridge/freezer temperature control food temperatures and tracking visitors to the kitchen and numbers cooked for will be required alongside maintaining kitchen hygiene standards and reporting any concerns about safety or kitchen equipment faults. You will also plan menus with the Catering Officer working with them to order and purchase food required and be responsible for maintaining the stock of ingredients and rotation of stock to ensure products are used within expiry dates.
Our ideal candidate will have experience cooking within a kitchen or hospitality environment alongside a Certificate in Food Hygiene and a minimum of a CIEH Level 2 Award in Catering Food Safety. You will also have sound knowledge of nutrition healthy eating balanced diets and an understanding of dietary requirements including glutenfree dairyfree and the safe preparation of food for individuals with dietary needs. Kitchen skills associated with the safe hygienic and efficient preparation of food for public consumption will be essential.
