Position Summary:
Spartanburg High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Business Education teacher specializing in Personal Finance to join our faculty. The successful candidate will empower students with financial literacy business acumen and career readiness skills essential for lifelong success. This educator will inspire learners through realworld applications and prepare them for postsecondary pathways in business finance and economics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach Personal Finance and other businessrelated courses (e.g. Financial Literacy Entrepreneurship or Business Management) according to the SC Department of Education standards.
- Develop lesson plans that integrate 21stcentury skills financial concepts critical thinking and technology.
- Provide engaging instruction that incorporates reallife financial scenarios such as budgeting credit management investing taxes and financial planning.
- Utilize instructional strategies that accommodate different learning styles and promote equity and access.
- Assess student progress through a variety of assessments including projects presentations and digital portfolios.
- Promote student participation in career and technical student organizations (CTE) such as FBLA or DECA.
- Collaborate with colleagues business partners and community members to enhance curriculum relevance and student experiences.
- Maintain accurate student records including grades attendance and disciplinary actions as required.
- Participate in faculty meetings professional learning communities and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Valid South Carolina teaching certificate in Business Marketing Computer Technology or a closely related field (Grades 912).
- Strong knowledge of personal finance curriculum and instructional best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to connect curriculum to realworld applications.
- Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using learning management systems and financial literacy resources is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching personal finance or related business subjects at the secondary level.
- Industry experience in finance or business is a plus.
- Experience advising CTE Organizations such as DECA or FBLA.
