Job Description
The School of Engineering Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU) British Columbia Canada invites applications for a tenuretrack faculty position in artificial intelligence (AI) at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are interested in candidates whose work spans both the theoretical and applied aspects of AI. Relevant areas of expertise may include but are not limited to: AI theory such as machine learning deep learning and reinforcement learning; and AI applications in communications and signal processing controls robotics and computer vision microelectronics biomedical engineering and computer engineering.
The ideal candidate is expected to possess and demonstrate the following qualifications:
Ph.D. (completed or imminent) in Electrical and Computer Engineering Computer Science or related areas
Demonstrated potential for research excellence in AI theory and applications through publications in toptier journals and conferences
Evidence of excellence/commitment to excellence in teaching engineering courses and mentoring students
Ability and/or potential to develop interdisciplinary collaborations
Demonstrated commitment to equity diversity and inclusion
Excellent communication skills and commitment to a teambased working culture
Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)

Faculty salaries at SFU are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the SFU Faculty Association. A reasonable estimate of the salary range at the Assistant Professor rank is $104700 $158322 (subject to experience and inclusive of Market Differential).
Candidates with solid indication of imminent completion of their PhD degree may be hired at the rank of Instructor and will be promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor upon completion of the PhD. A reasonable estimate for salary range if the successful candidate will be starting as an Instructor is $98340 $104700.
