Job Description: Behavior Intervention Specialist POSITION: Behavior Intervention Specialist REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services QUALIFICATIONS: Arkansas Teaching License Minimum three years of successful teaching experience JOB GOAL: Create and promote collaborative actions that strengthen building and district systems that support the whole child. Provide behavioral support to staff teams and students by obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary to provide positive behavior support. Coach teams on implementation of PBIS at all tiers within the MTSS model. Analyze building and student data to craft intervention and behavior plans for individual students and for building systems. Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and collaborate on creation of Behavior Intervention Plans that address challenging student behavior and support students to become more successful in all school settings. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: PBIS Coach building teams on implementation of PBIS at Tier 1 2 and 3 Monitor data through the SWIS data system Utilize data to determine schoolwide behavior needs (prevention data for building grade and classroom) Conduct Tiered Fidelity Inventories and utilize this to continue to coach teams to full fidelity with PBIS. Apply Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports to utilize evidencebased prevention and intervention practices along a multitiered continuum to support the whole child (safe supported challenged engaged and healthy) Behavior Assessment Behavior Planning Student Support Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis strategies to better understand student behaviors and increase positive behavior outcomes Apply Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports to utilize evidencebased prevention and intervention practices along a multitiered continuum to support the whole child (safe supported challenged engaged and healthy) Assist students in developing and transferring core Social Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies (self management self awareness social awareness responsible decision making and relationship skills) Provide crisis intervention (assist with conflict resolution and deescalation techniques) Maintain and organize student data collection to implement and modify behavior interventions Professional Development Provide professional development to individual teachers and building teams to help with behavior management strategies Provide crisis intervention (assist with conflict resolution and deescalation techniques) Support school staff with behavior management of students Confer with instructional personnel and provide input regarding student progress Additional Responsibilities Plan and evaluate strategies for improving behavior Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve district and building goals Participate in building level team meetings as appropriate (RTIB IEP 504 etc.) Consult with school counselor and social worker to better meet needs of students Engage in professional development opportunities to maintain high level of skill and knowledge of current research and practices Provide leadership to others through examples and sharing of knowledge/ skill Organize and schedule time commitment to meet demands of the job.
The candidate should also be a certified counselor for grades K12 and licensed in the state of Arkansas.
The position is contracted for 205 days.
Full-Time
