Amazon is seeking a highjudgment and selfmotivated communications professional to join our Stores Communications Trust & Reputation Team. This person will play an important role in identifying and rapidly responding to emerging topics and issues across Stores business with a focus on retail. This is a position for someone who can excel in a fastpaced deadlineoriented environment. The role is never boring and requires a team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
The individual in this role will help manage daytoday issues and strategically respond to media inquiries while developing forwardlooking scenario plans for emerging news cycles. This person must be able to dive deeply to understand business realities and to communicate clearly with internal and external audiences including senior executives. This person will be responsible for developing statements for media and other external audiences which requires exceptional writing skills and the ability to manage feedback and edits quickly and concisely.
The right candidate works effectively in a matrixed global organization quickly builds effective working relationships and maintains high standards under tight deadlines.
The position is based in Seattle.
Key job responsibilities Monitor assess escalate and resolve a variety of situations occurring simultaneously with excellent judgement Dive deeply with internal teams to understand how their businesses work Formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues and create a concise and wellwritten statements Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets/reporters Manage incoming media inquiries correct inaccuracies and lay groundwork for future story development. A day in the life Youll be responsible for managing incoming media inquiries about Amazons Worldwide Stores businesses from outlets and providing PR counsel to business leadership. We are looking for someone who is comfortable picking up the phone to speak with reporters to get more information can help educate them on key topics and is not afraid to push back when a reporter has inaccurate information.
About the team The Core Retail Trust and Reputation team is part of the Amazon Worldwide Stores Communications team and we strategically manage emerging issues and media inquiries that have the potential to impact Amazons reputation.
5 years of recent professional communications or public relations experience Bachelors degree
Experience working directly with media proactively and reactively. Ability to multitask and prioritize own workload. Ability to thrive in a fastpaced and deadlineoriented environment. Experience building strategies to enhance corporate reputation. Experience gaining alignment with crossfunctional teams.
